The Science-Technology Ministry has set up a special investigation group to look at the events surrounding the award for “Safe Product for Community Health” being given to river polluter Vedan.

Ngo Quy Viet, the chief of the Ministry’s General Department of Quality Standardization and Measurement, said that the ministry’s southern office to date hasn’t sent its explanation report to as requested.

To resolve the situation a three-member team travelled to HCM City on October 29. They will meet with the Ministry’s representatives in the south and related agencies.

On the same day, Vedan’s representative Yeh Sheau Yeh returned the three certificates of “Safe it was awarded to the organizing board.
