As though Parma and Ketsana have not brought enough grief to Vietnam’s central coast, a third big storm, Mirinae, is on course to come ashore near Nha Trang early on Monday, November 2.

In late afternoon of October 29, Mirinae was around 900km from Luzon island (Philippines) to the east. The wind speed at the eye of the storm was at level 13 (from 134-149km/hour).

When it enters the East Sea, the typhoon’s strength will weaken but the wind speed will be still range from level 11 to 14, moving around 25-30km/hour.

At noon on October 31, the storm’s eye is forecast to be around 140km from the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago to east-southeast.

On November 2, Mirinae will hit Vietnam’s central region from Quang Binh to Binh Thuan and the central highlands also.

Under the impact of Mirinae, from October 30 night the East Sea will be rough. Wind speed will increase from level 7 to 10.

Besides Mirinae, the northern region will be influenced by northeastern monsoons this weekend.
