Losses from Typhoon Mirinae hit nearly $280 million

The latest report by the Central Steering Board for Flood and Storm Control stated that the total losses caused by Typhoon Mirinae and the accompanying floods reached around $278 million.

The report states that there are up to 116 dead victims, including 22 in Binh Dinh, 73 in Phu Yen, 13 in Khanh Hoa, 5 in Gia Lai, 2 in Dak Lak and 1 in Ninh Thuan. There are also 7 people in missing, all from Phu Yen province.

Phu Yen also takes the lead for material losses, worth over 2.4 trillion dong, followed by Binh Dinh 1.04 trillion dong, Gia Lai 1 trillion dong, Dak Lak 86.75 billion dong, Khanh Hoa 380 billion dong, Ninh Thuan 24 billion dong and Quang Ngai 20 billion dong.

Relief activities have been implemented in the central region and power, telecom and transport sectors are working day and night to repair their facilities.
