After typhoon Mirinae, people in central Vietnam are suffering from a horrible flood, which killed 110 people by November 5.

The biggest losses belong to Phu Yen province, with up to 68 deaths, 14 missing people. The National Highway 1A and the transnational railway crossing this province are still stuck. Party Chief Nong Duc Manh is now in the province to check relief activities.

In Binh Dinh province, 14 people died, four went missing, 34 were injured and nearly 60,000 houses were damaged. The total losses are estimated at over 1 trillion dong ($55.5 million), including over 300 billion for the industrial sector. Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai is now in Binh Dinh to instruct relief activities. On November 5, Party Chief Nong Duc Manh was there also. The province received 70 billion dong and 3000 tonnes of rice from the government. It has asked for an additional 50 billion dong.

Khanh Hoa province on November 5 reported 12 deaths, 1 missing and 9 injured victims and total losses of 314 billion dong ($17.5 million).

Five people were recorded dead in floods in Gia Lai province. Over 71 villages are now isolated by water. The province suffered losses of around 1 trillion dong ($55.5 million). The Prime Minister is to supply 30 billion dong and 20,000 tonnes of rice to this province.

The Health Ministry has announced the grant of a large volume of medicine to Phu yen and Binh Dinh to prevent after-flood epidemics.

So far, the government has allocated 225 billion dong and 10,000 tonnes of rice to flood-hit provinces of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Gia Lai.
