HCM City honours five outstanding youngsters

The HCM City Youth Union has chosen five outstanding people and to confer upon them the title “HCM City’s Outstanding Young Citizen 2009” from 82 nominees.

The HCM City Youth Union has presented the title ““HCM City’s Outstanding Young Citizen 2009” for four years.

The five winners are the people who have contributed remarkably to the city. They are Dang Tat Dung, 30; police officer Nguyen Duc Hung, 28; Nguyen Hong Loc, 29; cai luong artist Nguyen Ngoc Que Tran, 28; Duong Hieu Trung, 14, a secondary student.

Dang Tat Dung is the deputy director of the Legal Consulting Centre of the HCM City Law University, one of the best law schools in Vietnam. He is also the Secretary of the universitys youth chapter and vice chairman of the HCM City Club for Overseas Students.

Nguyen Duc Hung is a young scout of the task force of HCM City Police Agency, who contributed to the success of more than 100 criminal cases. He directly arrested over 50 dangerous criminals.

Nguyen Hong Loc is a member of the project management board of the Saigon Water Supply Corporation, who has helped the corporation save a lot of money and time with his inventions. He also won the “National Outstanding Young Worker 2009” Award and the Nguyen Van Troi Award 2009.

Que Tran is a cai luong star in HCM City. She has won a dozen awards though she is very young.

Duong Hieu Trung is a 9th grader of the Nguyen Hue city Secondary School in District 4. Trung bravely rushed into severe fire to save two people in early 2009. He is also a good student.

The five people will be honored at a ceremony at 9am, January 1 2010 at the Youth Cultural House, 4 Pham Ngoc Thach, District 1.
