Market managers in Da Nang City on Saturday sealed 18 tons of seasoning powder branded Vina Acecook that had expired six months earlier.

The powder, used in instant noodle packs, was found Thursday when the officials cooperated with local traffic police to check a truck belonging to the Xanh (Green) Transport Company from Binh Dinh Province that was crossed Da Nang on National Highway No.1, the Tien Phong newspaper reported Sunday.

According to the bill that driver Ho Thai Hien had with him, the powder was being delivered from an Acecook Vietnam factory in the northern province of Hung Yen to another facility in Ho Chi Minh City for nearly VND500 million (US$27,000).

Acecook Vietnam, an affiliate of Japanese firm Acecook, is a leading manufacturer of instant processed cookingstuffs in Vietnam.
