The Dem Ho Tay dance hall in Hanoi after a fire ripped through the property Monday morning.

Wielders sparked a fire that burned down a Hanoi dance club Monday morning, killing one man and severely injuring another.

The body of local resident Do Van Cong, 44, was found later in the afternoon after Nguyen Duc Binh, 28, was rushed to hospital. Details bout what they were doing at the Dem Ho Tay (West Lake Night) night club at the time were not made available.

Dozens of people, most of them club employees, rushed out the doors before the entire 560 square meter property, burned to the ground.

According to eyewitnesses, parts of the dance hall, which first opened three weeks ago, were still under construction and sparks from wielding on the roof had ignited the fire.

Tran Manh Minh, a guard at the Ho Tay water park across the street, said he saw smoke from the back of the dance floor at around 9a.m., several minutes before the blaze spread all over the property.

“Then I shouted at the people at the night club to run.”

Fire five trucks arrived thirty minutes after the blaze started.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire and estimating the value of the property damage.
