LookAtVietnam – The total number of foreign workers in HCM City is 16,055, including 2219 people without work permits, according to a report of HCM City People’s Committee.

The report said that many garment and footwear companies as well as education and foreign language centres illegally employ foreign workers.

Many employers have neglected regulations on recruiting foreign workers and employ foreign employees who do not meet basic requirements.

The report revealed that difficulties in controlling foreign workers in HCM City include the overload at labor management agencies and loose regulations on recruitment of foreign workers.

The city asked the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs to make clear the concepts “movement” and “temporary movement” to fix times for extension and the number of extension of work permits for foreign labourers.
