A cemetery park will be built in Soc Son District at the cost of 300 billion dong (over $16.6 million).

Van Dien, Hanoi’s biggest cemetery, is about to close.

The Hanoi Department of Construction and the Hoa Sen Technological Investment and Development Company will build Soc Son Heaven Cemetery Park.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Tram, the project’s executive manager, said that 300 billion dong will cover the first phase of building structures like the incineration zone, roads, and service area, as well as for trees, lakes and gardens.

Tram added that this cemetery will use environmental friendly burial practices. Waste and waste water will be treated by modern technology. The Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment also asked the investor to prevent pollution of underground water sources.

The new cemetery is schedule to open in the third quarter of 2011.
