Many gardeners in Tra Khe village in Thai Binh province and Vi Khe village in Nam Dinh province have fixed prices of billion dong for their ornamental trees.

Vu Viet Hoa from Vi Khe village has a 200-year-old tree which he said to sell at 11 billion dong (over $600,000). Hoa said many people wanted to buy this special tree but he didn’t sell because they offered lower prices than his wish.

Dao Xuan Thon from Tra Khe village is about to sell two ancient sanh trees at 4 billion dong (over $220,000) and 2.5 billion dong (nearly $140,000).

According to Thon, ornamental trees worth over 1 billion dong must be at least 100 years old and have special shapes.

Thon is very famous for owning such special trees. Last year he sold a sanh tree for a man in Hai Duong province at the price of 1.95 billion dong. He hoped this Tet he would sell several trees at that price.
