| The Hanoi Power Company joined with Hanoi-area banks to begin checking ATMs throughout Hanoi on April 5 and detected nearly ten machines with electricity leaks.
Electricity leaks were recorded from 3V to 70.5V. Electricians said that ATM users will feel numb in their fingers if they touch ATMs with power leaks under 10V and it will be dangerous for them if the voltage is higher. According to technical rules of the power sector, equipment with electricity leaks over 5V must be connected to the ground, but some banks ignored this rule when installing their ATMs. The Hanoi Power Company will complete its inspections and send lists of unsafe ATMs to banks this week for repair. hile waiting for the lists, banks are examining their ATMs too.
