Canvas is hung around a corner of Hoan Kiem Lake.

Inside the canvas, nearly 100sq.m of pavement is removed to be re-set with large stone blocks. The edge of the lake is covered in concrete by an additional 30cm. This is part of a 50 billion dong project to beautify the banks of Hoan Kiem Lake.

Hundreds of 60×60cm stone blocks are piled up on the pavement.

Workers explain that the stones are transported from Thanh Hoa and each weighs 50kg.

Hoan Kiem District officials commented that construction will be conducted in stages since it’s a popular tourist site.

Some people worry that the lake’s new pavement will be slippery in the rain, but officials state there will be no problem with the stone blocks.

Hoan Kiem’s bank is around 1.7km long.
