Scientists have stated that the mysterious fires that happened recently in Thai Binh province were not caused by natural chemicals. Police are on the case.

Mysterious “spontaneous combustion” cases await investigation results

Le Minh, the director of the Thai Binh Department of Science and Technology, reported that tests of soil, water, air and burned objects show that the 30 plus fires at Mr. Bui Van Tac’s house are not supernatural or mysterious, but were caused by an arsonist.

“The possible presence of natural fire-causing chemicals has been eliminated, so the fires must have been caused by a human. We have transferred the case to police for investigation,” Minh revealed.

One official noted that, since late March, the strange fires have not happened and Mr. Tac’s family has resumed their normal life.

“We have announced the conclusions of scientists on the radio and curious crowds are no longer gathered around the house,” commented the official.

Nearly 30 fires were reported on Mr. Tac’s land from mid-February to late March 2010, without any readily visible cause or reason.

The family lived in fear while curious people flocked to Quynh Phu to see the sites of these unexplained fires.

The Department of Science and Technology set up a working group to investigate the case and sent item samples to the Ministry of Science and Technology for testing. The Ministry also sent their experts to survey the site.
