Two home-made mines were hidden in two cars at the houses of Do Van Cong, a senior Party official in the southern province of Binh Duong province.

An explosion was reported at the garage of this official’s house in Uyen Hung town on the early morning of April 19. The explosion was caused by a man-made mine installed under a Toyota Land Cruiser. However, the explosion didn’t cause any damage.

The official then managed to drive another car to the office but he detected a strange noise under the hood of this car. Local police went to the house to check and dismantle what they found.

Police defined that this is also a home-made mine. This mine is 0.5kg in weight, including 200gr of explosive. The mine is activated by a mobile phone. Checking the phone, police saw four missing calls. Investigators said that the culprit tried to activate the mine several times but he failed.

Police are further investigating the case.
