The case, widely known as Huynh Ngoc Si case, was concluded on December 8, 2008 after Tokyo prosecutors prosecuted four formers officials of PCI group for taking bribes and violating Japan’s law on competition.
Vietnamese agencies asked the Japanese Ministry of Justice to provide case documents. Last year Japan sent more than 3000 pages in English and Japanese to the Vietnam People’s Supreme Prosecutor. The documents were then transferred to the Ministry of Public Security for translation into Vietnamese.
The documents are important evidence for Vietnamese investigators to make clear Huynh Ngoc Si’s guilt.
On February 17, 2010, the HCM City People’s Supreme Court sentenced Si to six years in jail for abuse of power.
Sy is also accused of taking bribes worth of hundreds of thousands of dollars from PCI.
