Bomber of provincial Party official’s cars arrested

VietNamNet Bridge – Local police of the southern province of Binh Duong on May 12 arrested the man who set two bombs on two cars of a local Party official.

The culprit is a 21-year-old man named Pham Manh Hung from the southern province of Dong Nai. Searching Hung’s house, detectives collected materials and equipment which were used to make mines.

On April 22, LookAtVietnam reported that two home-made bombs were hidden in two cars at the house of Do Van Cong, a senior Party official in Binh Duong province.

A mine exploded at the garage of this official’s house in Uyen Hung town on the early morning of April 19. The explosion didn’t cause any damage.

The official then managed to drive another car to the office but he detected a strange noise under the hood of this car. Local police went to the house to check and dismantle the bomb that they found.

Police announced that this is also a homemade mine. This mine is 0.5kg in weight, including 200gr of explosive. The mine is activated by a mobile phone. Checking the phone, police saw four missing calls. Investigators said that the culprit tried to activate the mine several times but he failed.

Police also found a letter asking the official to pay 175 million dong otherwise his two boys will be killed. The blackmailer left his mobile phone number.
