VietNamNet Bridge A farmer in Khanh Hoa province on May 24 dug up a manioc weighing 34kg and 2.2m long in his garden.

Farmer Ha Bay explained that this tree was planted two years ago and he didn’t harvest it last year because manioc prices were very low. He was very surprised about the manioc’s size.

The chair of Giang Ly commune, where Ha Bay lives, noted that Ha Bay gave the giant manioc to authorities to preserve and display. “We measured it already and its weight is 34kg,” he confirmed.

Farmers agreed that this is the biggest manioc they have ever seen.

In late April 2004, farmer Aly in Dak Glei of Kon Tum province unearthed a 1.7m manioc, but it was only 5kg in weight.

On October 7, 2008, Vo Ngoc Binh, 82, dug up a 20kg manioc in his garden in Binh Dinh province.
