Old houses on Hang Dao Street are re-painted in yellow.

Thao issued his order after fielding public complaints that the project is making old houses into new ones and thus taking away the identity of the Old Quarter.

Thao asked the developer to review the work to preserve the value of old houses. He also asked district governments to encourage residents to repaint their homes to welcome the city’s 1000th anniversary. In addition, he instructed developers to complete ongoing beautification projects.

Plans for the opening ceremony of Hanoi’s great anniversary (to be held on the morning of October 1 at Ly Thai To flower garden) and the closing grand gala (on the evening of October 10 at My Dinh stadium) are both nearly finalized.
