Hoan Kiem district has asked for the department’s permission to set up 25 boards for free small ads, while Thuong Tin district and Son Tay town have such boards at cultural houses. The districts of Cau Giay, My Duc, Hoai Duc and Quoc Oai are seeking suitable places to build such boards.

Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Deputy Director Nguyen Duc Hoa maintained that Ba Dinh, Long Bien, Hai Ba Trung and Dong Da districts will have to complete construction of boards for small advertisements in June and the other districts must fulfill this task by August.

Seeking a place to build boards for free advertisements is quite difficult in some districts in the city’s centre, where land is as valuable as gold.

Since the city conducted a campaign to take down illegal small ads last August, around 60-70 percents of residential areas escaped from this. So far 22 people have been fined for illegally sticking small ads at public sites and on the walls of residential areas.
