Hanoi to check vagrants

VietNamNet Bridge – Hanoi has set up two teams to gather street people in the city’s centre to ensure social order during this year’s great events.

Street peoples including beggars, wondering mental patients, and disabled people will be sent to social patronage centres or mental hospitals for treatment before being sent back to their hometowns.
For beggars, disabled people, and old people in the districts of Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Hoang Mai, Long Bien, Tay Ho, Cau Giay, Tu Liem, Gia Lam, Soc Son, Me Linh and Dong Anh will be sent to the social centre in Dong Anh district.
Street people grouped up in other districts will be sent to the social centre in Ung Hoa district. Mental patients will be moved to the Hanoi Mental Hospital.
The costs for caring these people will come from the city’s budget.
Last year Hanoi similarly gathered up 1080 street people, including 477 beggars and 603 mental patients, disabled people, etc.
