Police car burnt down on national highway

According to police of the central province of Ha Tinh, a man named Nguyen Van Toan, 23, rode a motorbike on national highway 1A, the section crossing Ky Long commune, Ha Tinh province. He carried two other men and they didn’t wear helmets. Two local traffic police officers ordered Toan to stop but he ran away.
The two passengers jumped off and Toan continued to flee. He hit a truck and died on the spot.
Local traffic police went to the accident site to investigate and local residents, who believed that Toan died because of the traffic police, surrounded the police car, overturned it and set it ablaze. They also destroyed a police motorbike.
Local government sent 30 mobile policemen to the site to explain and encourage the people to calm down.
The accident caused traffic jams on the north-south highway for several hours. Thousands of vehicles were stuck for several kilometers. The gridlock settled at 10pm.
