Nguyen Thi Thu Thao, 58, said that she was bathing in the sea with Tanh and another woman when she was bitten by a fish. She screamed out and some people approached to lead her to the shore.

On the way to the shore, the fish followed the blood bleeding from Thao’s wounds and it bit Truong Thi Tanh’s, 60, right leg when they were only 5m from the shore.

The two women were brought to a nearby hospital for first aid.

Doctors said that the fish only snapped at Thao’s leg so the injury is not serious. Meanwhile, Tanh’s tendon was cut and the injury is 5cm deep. Doctors had to do a surgery to connect the tendon.

The traces left on victims’ legs are similar to those of previous victims of sharks.

Early this year over ten people were bitten by sharks in Quy Nhon beach. Since then, fishermen have caught three sharks.
