The Vietnam Drug Administration on May 4 announced of an urgent recall of child and infant liquid formulations of Tylenol, Motrin, Zytrec, and Benadryl by McNeil sold in Vietnam.

VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Drug Administration on May 4 announced of an urgent recall of child and infant liquid formulations of Tylenol, Motrin, Zytrec, and Benadryl by McNeil, a division of Johnson & Johnson sold in Vietnam.

The decision was released after the US Food and Drug Administration announced to reclaim 43 types of influenza and cough syrups of the above brands, produced in the US, for poor quality. Some of the products included in the recall may contain a higher concentration of active ingredients than is specified others may contain inactive ingredients that do not meet internal testing requirements while others may contain tiny particles.

The Vietnam Drug Administration asked all health departments to warn people to avoid use of these medicines. The agency also asked the HCM City Medicine Testing Institute to collect some samples for testing.

Pharmaceutical firms that supply these medicines in Vietnam have been requested to provide information about the issues with these medicines on May 5.

These liquid formulations of Tylenol, Motrin, Zytrec và Benadyl produced in the US are not registered in Vietnam.
