VietNamNet Bridge - The largest ever Vietnam Summer Camp will take place in 10 cities and provinces from July 15 to Aug. 3, attracting 150 young Vietnamese from abroad.
Vietnam Summer Camp 2009 opens
Organised by the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, this is an annual event for overseas Vietnamese young people, who will return home every summer to enjoy the camp.
Attendants are outstanding young people who have made positive contributions to the development of youth movements and know enough of the Vietnamese language to be able to communicate with native Vietnamese during their long journey.
This year they will travel from the central city of Nghe An and make their way through the northern, central and southern regions. The northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang will be the final destination.
They will take part in various activities, including a requiem in the southern province of Tay Ninh, an incense-offering ceremony at the Truong Son cemetery, visiting the Hung Kings Temple complex in Phu Tho province and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi, meeting with native Vietnamese youth in Da Nang, Nghe An and Tuyen Quang, and joining in a live broadcast from Vientiane, Hanoi and Paris on Hanoi’s 1,000th anniversary.
