On June 2, a Nha Trang tour company reported to police the two-day disappearance of Daniil Repjew, 27, near Hon Mun island.
According to the firm, on May 31, their boat was carrying ten Vietnamese and six foreign tourists, including three Russians, two Dutch, a German and an Israeli, to Hon Mun Island for diving.
After diving at two sites safely, all tourists were requested to return to the boat. However, Repjew suddenly jumped down into the sea to swim. When the Russian tourist did not return after ten minutes, the staff began searching but were unable to find him.
The company immediately reported the case to the coast guard.
Six days later, a fisherman discovered the body of the tourist near Hon Mot Island. The body was brought ashore for examination to determine the cause of death and will be transferred to the Russian Embassy for transport home.
