Thang Long dragons are not in the gift list.

At a meeting of Hanoi’s Party Committee on July 7, Nghi explained that the media reported expensive gifts being prepared, such as Thang Long dragons with ruby-inlaid eyes and bronze drums.

He noted that these products are made by independent firms for tourists and they have no connection to the city’s plan or budget. He went on to say that gifts funded by the city’s budget will include only the three items he listed, the plate, CD, and pin.

“Giving gifts to delegates and guests during the great anniversary must be courteous and considerate, but economical, he observed. “These gifts are for all domestic and international guests.”

Hanoi will also present provinces, large libraries and universities with a collection of books about Thang Long’s 1000 years and Hanoi Encyclopedia.

The Hanoi Party Chief asked relevant agencies to complete urban repair projects in July.
