| Hanoi authorities will spend 10 billion dong ($530,000) and France will contribute 40,000 euros to make improvements to the old street of Ta Hien, which is very near Hoan Kiem Lake.
Ta Hien street has many old houses with similar architecture. Most are being used as souvenir and handicraft shops or restaurants. This street is a main destination for tourists who arrive in Hanoi.
The Hanoi-France project will repair and paint buildings on this street. Additionally, leans-to will be removed, technical facilities like the power grid, street light system, water supply-drainage, parking lots, will be improved and more trees will be planted. French experts from Toulouse will support Hanoi in implementing this project.
Hanoi’s Old Quarter Management Board Vice-Head Pham Tuan Long remarked that, thanks to this project, houses along Ta Hien street will have the same structure and height as well as window and door size.
This project will begin on October 10.
