A terrible explosion filled the morning air on June 26 at a village in Thuy Nguyen district in Hai Phong, injuring over ten people and damaging dozens of buildings.

One man was awakened at 3am by shouting. He went out and saw a big fire. Several minutes later, a big explosion rocked the area like an earthquake, which shook houses and everything around.

After the explosion, the whole village panicked. Many people cried and screamed. Over ten people were injured and brought to hospitals.

According to initial statistics, over 60 houses in the village lost their roofs or had cracked walls. A house just 10 meters from the explosion collapsed totally. Homes with glass doors, located even 2 kilometers from the explosion, were shattered.

A resident explained that, before the explosion, he saw a four-seat car at the site and witnessed two men getting out and making phone calls. The car left the area after the explosion.

Hai Phong police rapidly investigated the case and arrested two suspects on July 1. They are a father and son who are explosive material traders in Thuy Nguyen district.

The suspects declared that on the evening of June 29, they carried a large volume of explosives to the village and were seen by residents. They had to leave the explosives on the roadside. They returned to burn the explosives to destroy the traces of the crime and quickly left the site.

Hai Phong police have not disclosed the names of the two suspects yet.
