VietNamNet Bridge – The ten most outstanding citizens of Hanoi will be honored on August 28 at the Hanoi Friendship Culture Palace. Here are the top ten citizens.

Tran Mai Anh and her husband adopted a baby in Quang Nam province who was abandoned by his mother and lost a leg and his genitals. The couple brought the baby to 14 hospitals at home and abroad to help him integrate into mainstream life.

Professor Vu Khieu, 94, is the author of many works on Hanoi like Hanoi Encyclopedia and research on the 1000-year Thang Long culture. At the age of 94, the professor is still producing works on Hanoi’s culture and history.

Professor of history, People’s Teacher Phan Huy Le, 76, is one of the top historians in Vietnam. He is the chief editor of Thang Long royal citadel files, Phu Dong festival and Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam doctoral steles that were submitted to UNESCO for world cultural heritage recognition.

Researcher Nguyen Vinh Phuc, 84, has written a large number of books about Hanoi over 50 years. He is considered the top researcher of Hanoi.

Hoang Vinh Giang, 64, has contributed to training many generations of coaches, referees and athletes for Hanoi.

Dr. Le Anh Tuan, 59, director of the Hanoi Department of Health, has contributed to the development of Hanoi’s health sector. He is also the author and editor of many medical books and research works.

Le Van Bang, 77, a veteran and a war invalid who has worked as a chief of his local community for 22 years, quietly contributing to Hanoi’s development.

Vu Ngoc Minh, 61, chair of Thang Long Metal Company for several decades, has turned the firm from a small one into one of the top metal companies in Hanoi.

Nguyen Dac Hai, 47, chair of Farmers’ Association of Chuyen My commune, Phu Xuyen district, has built a model farm in a flooded rice area to create jobs for many people.
