On the occasion of the National Day, LookAtVietnam introduces some of 105 black-and-white photos about Saigon from 1945-1976, which are on display at an exhibition in HCM City’s Lam Son construction site, District 1, entitled “Vietnam – 65 Years of Independence, Self-Control and Development.

Saigonese rose up in arms to seize power on August 25, 1945.

Southern militia in the early days of the southern war of resistance, September 1945.

Saigonese in a meeting against the US on May 1, 1966.

Saigon students joined a strike against the US and the Saigon government.

Liberation troops occupied nerve-centres of the enemy in District 5 during the general offensive and uprising of Mau Than Spring in 1968.

Liberation troops occupied Bridge 38 in December 1974.

Liberation troops occupied Tan Son Nhat Airport on April 30, 1975.

Saigonese welcomed liberation troops on April 30, 1975.

Le Van Thuc, a prisoner on Con Dao island, met his mother on victory day.

Hanoi-HCM City rail transport was resumed on September 2, 1976.
