On the same day, police also arrested a gang of traffickers and seized 21kg of animal bones, which included leopard and chamois, on Tran Duy Hung Street in Cau Giay District. Police also seized elephant tusks.

Nguyen The Gioi and Nguyen Thuy Dung were arrested and three vehicles were impounded, said Doan Huu Chau, head of the Ha Noi Environmental Police Office.

Meanwhile, police confiscated 700kg of animal bones and products worth billions of Vietnamese dong from a house in Truong Dinh ward, Hai Ba Trung District, yesterday, Sept 17.

The Ha Noi Environmental Police Office also seized tens of kilogrammes of wild animal bones and numerous stag and deer horns. Police believe the bones came from the central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

The case is under investigation, Chau said.
