Vien Dinh Pagoda in Ung Hoa district, Hanoi on September 12 welcomed the biggest Adida Buddha statue in northern Vietnam and also one relic of Buddha’s remains, presented by senior monk Thich Huyen Dieu, chair of the World Buddhist Sangha Council.

Thousands of Buddhists and area officials attended the ceremony.

The 3 meter high, 6 ton statue was cast by artisans from Y Yen district, Nam Dinh province from October 2009 to September 2010 to celebrate Hanoi’s 1000th anniversary.

Built in 1831, Vien Dinh is northern Vietnam’s pagoda with the highest number of xa loi, presented by seven countries - India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Butan and the US.
