VietNamNet Bridge – Thousands of people flocked to Vinaconex Xuan Mai company in Hanoi to apply to buy the first apartments for low-income earners in Hanoi on October 9-10. Among them were rich people who were driven in private cars.

Vinaconex Xuan Mai, the investor of the first housing project for low-income earners, totaling 328 apartments, said that up to 44 percent of over 1,000 applications were rejected because they didn’t meet standards.

However, among the outstanding valid applications, many belonged to people with cars. This fact stirred up doubt about whether houses for low-income earners would in fact be sold to poor people.

Vinaconex Xuan Mai general director Dang Hoang Huy on September 13 stated that before submitting applications, clients must read Hanoi’s decision 34 on housing for low-income earners. This decision sets conditions for purchasing and renting houses for low-income earners. Those who declare false information to buy these types of houses will be forced to return the houses.

Officials who violate this regulation will be punished.

Investors who break this rule will be banned from implementing real estate projects for two years and their licenses for housing projects for low-income earners will be revoked.

Huy stated that with these strong sanctions, investors wont dare violate these regulations.
