The citadel on August 1 was recognized by the UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site. UNESCO’s general director will come to Hanoi to attend the city’s great anniversary on October 1 and to present the certificate.

Below are old pictures from the collection entitled “Hanoi Memories” by teacher Doan Thinh and his son, architect Doan Bac.

These photos were taken in late 19th century and early 20th century.
