Hanoi ceramic road receives Guinness certificate

| The 810m-long ceramic painting entitled “Vietnamese patterns in history” on the Hanoi ceramic mosaic mural on October 5 received the “World largest ceramic mural” certificate from the Guinness World Records.
At the ceremony, the Guinness World Records’ representative Beatriz Garcia Fernandez said that by October 4, a ceramic mural totaling 1,494sq.m in China held this record. “But now I confirm that this 810m-long piece of the Hanoi ceramic mural, which is 1,570sq.m in area, has become the world largest ceramic mural. The new Guinness World Record is recognized today, in Hanoi,” she said.
She remarked that this is an impressive artwork because it grouped up people not only in Vietnam but from many countries in the world.
According to the Guinness World Records, a ceramic mural must be a painting which is on the same surface. The Hanoi ceramic road is nearly 4km long and totals nearly 7,000sq.m but it is separated by gates so it is not recognized as a painting. This work, thus, includes many ceramic murals.
The Hanoi authorities on October 5 also inaugurated the Hanoi ceramic road. Hanoi vice chairwoman Ngo Thi Thanh Hang praised the efforts of author Nguyen Thu Thuy and the contribution of artists from many countries to this work.
“Hanoi hopes that individuals and organizations at home and abroad will positively take part in and contribute ideas and funding to beautify other public sites in Hanoi,” Hang commented.
The ceremony attracted a lot of people. Mr. Hoang Minh, 57, a Hanoian resident, said he was very happy when Hanoi’s mural was recognized as a Guinness World Record.
“Ceramic paintings are very nice. They make this road much more beautiful than before. Whenever my friends from other provinces visit me, I always take them to this road to see the mural,” Minh noted.
