An online auction to raise funds for the Foundation for the Poor was successfully organized, collecting VND3.1 billion (over $150,000), including VND1 billion for an unique bronze drum that was cast for Hanoi’s 1000th anniversary.

With the starting price of VND500,000, the drum was sold to the Ocean Bank Group for VND1 billion.

This unique bronze drum decorated with 100 dragons is one drum in a set of 100 bronze drums for Hanoi’s anniversary manually cast by senior artisans.

Three bells which look like the old bell in the Kinh Thien Palace in the Thang Long royal citadel, starting at VND100 million ($5000) a bell, were sold to a company from Da Nang for VND1 billion.

A couple of wood lions made by artisan Nguyen Van Hoan for “The Day for the Poor” was sold to an estate firm in Hanoi at the price of VND1.1 billion. Its starting price was VND90 million.

The auction began in early December and closed on December 26. One day later, officials of the Vietnam Fatherland Front gave the items to auction winners.

The auction results will be announced on December 31 at an annual program by Vietnam Television (VTV) to raise funds for the poor.
