Dang Hoang Khai, 20, was attacked by a crocodile at a natural reserve in the southern province of Hau Giang

Doctors in the Mekong Delta province of Can Tho Wednesday said they have rejoined the arm of a 20-year-old student who was attacked by a crocodile a day earlier.

Dang Hoang Khai’s family said that he and five of his friends had on Tuesday visited the Lung Ngoc Hoang Natural Reserve in Hau Giang Province.

They found a crocodile cage with three big reptiles and took turns to break in and take photographs.

However, the largest crocodile, weighing more than 100 kilograms, bit off Khai’s arm when he was posing, the family said.

He was rescued and rushed to hospital by his friends.

Nguyen Hoang Tho, director of the reserve, said he incident happened when no employee was there at the site.

Khai and his friends climbed over a fence which is about two meters high, Tho said, adding that after the incident, two of them ran away on their motorbikes.

The reserve has reported the incident to local police, Tho said.
