People in neighboring areas have been flocking to Mr. Nguyen Van Binh’s home in Ganh Hao town, Bac Lieu province to see a titanic pachyrrhizus (potato bean or yam bean) that is up to 7.4 kilos.

According to Binh, the giant pachyrrhizus is a gift from his friend named Nguyen Van Map from An Trach commune, Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province.

Map planted some pachyrrhizus trees in May 2010 and harvested them several days ago.

Apart from the 7.4 kilo pachyrrhizus that he gave Binh, other pachyrrhizus weighed from 1.5-3 kilos each.

The giant pachyrrhizus will be displayed at an upcoming exhibition in Bac Lieu.

In May 2010, a farmer from the central province of Khanh Hoa harvested a giant cassava that weighed approximately 34 kilos and measured 2.2 meters long, the longest cassava in Vietnam so far.

In February 2010, a man in Viet Tri City, midland province of Phu Tho, dug up a mega-pachyrrhizus of 35 kilos in his garden.
