Border guard forces in the central province of Phu Yen said Thursday they are preparing to send five Filipino citizens saved from a capsized ship by Vietnamese fishermen back to the Philippines.

The five people are: Recpno D. Suico, 31; Diego A Bano Moy, 24; Naptali O. SurBano, 46; Remejo C. Geray, 39; and Predomangubat, 38.

On January 30, Le Con, the captain of a fishing boat, discovered the five Filipinos floating on the sea, around 100 nautical miles from Song Tu Tay Island, as he headed out to the sea on a fishing expedition.

Con and other his crew took them on board and gave them first aid. As Con’s boat didn’t have enough cooking for the foreigners and he still wanted to fish before returning ashore, he asked two other fishing boats for help.

The boats, belonging to Tran Van Than and Tran Van Toan, assisted Con in providing food to the rescued Filipinos. The three boats continued their fishing activities before arriving at the Ward 6 fishing port on February 9 with the Filipinos in good health.
