Seven charged with smuggling gold in Mekong Delta

Prosecutors in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang are pressing charges against seven for smuggling gold into the country.

 

According to the indictment, the ring was busted after three of the accused smugglers were stopped driving a car loaded with 92 gold bars, weighing one kilogram each, through Chau Thanh District.

 

An investigation revealed that they were hired to transport gold for Nguyen Ngoc Luan, 53, and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Van, 45.

 

Following their arrest, police found the drivers having smuggled 201 kilograms of gold for Luan and 126 kilograms for Van.

 

Meanwhile, Pham Tung Nguyen and Tieu Khai Phen were accused of buying a total of 326 kilograms of trafficked gold from the duo.
