Vietnam wins three prizes at ASEAN TV Charming 2011

Vietnamese contestant Van Trang won the second prize, the Audience’s Choice and Most Congenial Contestant title at the final night of the ASEAN Television Charming Pageant in HCM City on March 12.
Eighteen contestants from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the host Vietnam showed their charm and grace on the final night at the Ho Chi Minh City Television Centre.
Putri Norizah Binti Ibnoriza from Brunei was crowned Miss ASEAN TV Charming 2011.
The first runner-up was the host Vietnam actress-model Van Trang while the second runner-up was Rose Ann Uy Aguilar from the Philippines.
Prizes included one first prize worth US$3,000, one second prize worth $2,000 and one third prize worth $1,500. The management board also awarded eight consolation prizes, each worth $800.
This year’s contest marks the 15th anniversary of Vietnam joining ASEAN and the country’s presidency of the group this year.
Vietnam’s Van Trang, 21, receives the second prize.
Putri Norizah Binti Ibnoriza from Brunei takes the first prize. She impressed the jury and the audience through a song entitled “Cry Me River” on March 9. Putri is a student and a singer. She appeared on television at the age of 7. She has issued an album and a single.
The third prize goes to Rose Ann Uy Aguilar from the Philippines.
The best traditional costume award is presented to Noorsamsheena Binti Samsudin from Malaysia.
Pollaphat Piriyanasorn from Thailand wins the most impressive style.
Siriphone Southammavong from Laos takes the prize for the best introduction.
Liu Yingtong from Singapore is the best in evening gown.
Hin Channirath from Campuchia is granted the most charming face title.
The talent title goes to Thandar New from Myanmar and Tiara Emilia Purwoto (right) from Indonesia.
