VietNamNet Bridge – On the the third day of the third lunar month or Tet Han Thuc (Cold Food Festival), Vietnamese families offer banh troi and banh chay to their ancestors. Hanoians no longer make the cakes at home but buy them.

Banh troi are glutinous rice flour cakes stuffed with plum of brown sugar and banh chay are glutinous rice flour cakes stuffed with green bean paste. Tet Han Thuc is an occasion for people to visit and tidy the burial graves of relatives, while enjoying the spring.
