HCM City needs 87,000 workers in Q2

VietNamNet Bridge – The need for labor of HCM City’s enterprises in the second quarter of 2011 grew by 7-10 percent over the first quarter, totaling 87,000, including around 10,000 at industrial zones.


According to the local Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, textile, footwear, packing, electronics and cooking processing are the sectors that have big requirements for labor.

The need for unskilled labor accounted for over 57 percent in the first quarter. It fell to 45 percent in the second quarter. The demand for labor with university degree or more increased from 8.4 percent to 10 percent and from 6.1 to 20 percent for labor with college and vocational training degrees.

It is forecasted that from now to 2015, HCM City will need 280,000 to 300,000 workers annually, up 3-3.5 percent a year.

The fields that account for 80 percent of the city’s demand for labor are tourism, restaurant-hotel services, law, auditing, insurance, human resources, education, marketing, oil and gas, information technology, electronics-telecom.
