The Ministry of Information and Communications Wednesday fined a company VND70 million (US$3,414) for illegally spamming mobile phones.

 

Hanoi-based EMOBI Joint-stock company has distributed messages, even though it is not an advertisement service supplier, according to ministry’s investigators who busted the company Tuesday.

 

The company was also found sending messages related to fortunetelling and gambling, they said.

 

Meanwhile, investigators are considering withdrawing the service number of VNNET, another company busted for the same violation earlier in the month.

 

According to investigators, the two companies have spammed over 20,000 mobile phone subscribers.
