Vietnamese workers evacuated from Libya on a ship arriving in the northern province of Quang Ninh Monday.

A ship carrying over 1,000 Vietnamese workers from Libya arrived in the northern province of Quang Ninh Monday, marking the end of a month-long evacuation campaign involving 10,300 workers.

The Egyptian ship carrying the workers left Libya on Mar 3, but didn’t reach Vietnam on Mar 27 as expected because it had to stop at some seaports to get supplies of cooking and fuel, according to Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, chief of the Department of Overseas Labor.

Nguyen Thanh Hoa, deputy minister of labor, said each of the workers would be supported in seeking new jobs.

In the mass evacuation of workers from the African country plunged into turmoil since February by anti-government demonstrations, Vietnam mainly used airplanes. The last flight carrying workers from Libya arrived home on Mar 9.
