Twenty-four Vietnamese passengers were injured after a tour bus crashed into a ditch on the side of a highway in the suburb of Pattaya, Thailand, last Friday, Thai newspaper Pattaya People reported. The bus belonging to Donna International Ltd, a Thai major partner of Vietnamese travel companies, crashed into the ditch and overturned after colliding into the side of a Honda Civic. After the collision, the bus had its windshield broken to pieces and its door detached from the body. The car’s right side was dented and its driver suffered minor injuries. The 24 injured people are being treated at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, Banlamung Hospital and Pattaya Memorial Hospital. According to Sai Gon Tiep Thi newspaper, Donna International is a travel firm run by a Vietnamese couple, who are former tour guides in Thailand. Company representatives denied rumors that Vietnamese tourists were seriously injured, adding that the Thai tour guide on the bus suffered the most injuries. The Vietnamese passengers, whose identities were not revealed, came to Thailand in the tour organized by But Tam Company based in Hanoi. Thai police are still investigating the cause of the accident. In February 2010, a Vietnamese tourist was killed and nine others injured in Bangkok after the Thai driver of their bus fell asleep at the wheel and it crashed into a ditch on the side of the road.
