Military officers arrange the remains of 11 soldiers found in Quang Tri Province.

Military officers in the central province of Quang Tri on Thursday found a grave with the remains of 11 Vietnamese soldiers killed in the Vietnam War.

Following tip-offs from local residents, the officers unearthed seven sets of remains in a rural village in Hai Lang District. The other four sets were previously found by a local resident at the same location.

The remains were uncovered along with personal effects like hats and rubber sandals.

Senior lieutenant-colonel Nguyen Van Thanh, chief of Hai Lang District Military Command Board, said the remains may be those of commandos of the Quang Tri Army Section.

A ceremony to honor and re-bury the soldiers’ remains will be organized at a local memorial for war martyrs on Friday.
