Cloud Computing & Security World 2013—Vietnam’s largest IT security conference and expo—opened in Hanoi on March 26.

More than 400 senior government leaders, corporate executives, chief information officers, IT directors, and associated professionals gathered at the two-day event to share technology updates and devise solutions to the challenges of the new digital age.

They addressed key information security vulnerabilities that government agencies and enterprises need to tackle if their digital growth is to be speedy.

They touched upon information security management strategies, focusing on the complex security issues arising from cloud computing.

The delegates exchanged notes on effective data management, security in Big Data environments, and security intelligence solutions for decreasing the threat of attacks facing businesses.

Recent technology developments and trends—most notably virtualisation, cloud computing, the workforce’s mobile devices, and social networks—are impacting how the government and enterprises handle IT management. Their influence is primarily positive but these trends can also create new challenges for IT, information security, and risk management executives, they said.

A security technology demonstration expo also proceeded alongside the conference, featuring leading IT firms and providers like Trend Micro, HP, SchneiderHitachi, Sun Media, and Bkav.

It offered high-profile information security businesses to the chance to promote their state-of-the-art products and devices capable of bolstering network security, cloud security, encryption, ATM security, identity management, and access control.
