VietNamNet Bridge – Chief coach of the national football team, Henrique Calisto, has already sent a list of 21 players to the organising board of the HCM City International Football Tournament, though the deadline for submission is September 30.

However, by September 30, the coach will have to rule out one more player since the number of required nominees is 20.

The national football squad will host a tournament featuring teams from Myanmar, Turkmenistan and South Korean students at the HCM City International Football Tournament from October 1-5.

To prepare for the tournament, the national squad moved from the Ham Rong Sports Centre in Pleiku City to HCM City on September 20.

The list of 21 players

Goalkeepers: Santos, Hồng Sơn, Đức Cường.

Fullbacks: Như Thành, Phước Tứ, Văn Phong, Quang Thanh, Hoàng Vương, Văn Nhiên, Minh Đức.

Halfbacks: Tấn Tài, Tài Em, Thành Lương, Bảo Khanh, Minh Châu, Minh Phương, Đức Dương, Thanh Phúc.

Strikers: Công Vinh, Việt Thắng, Ngọc Thanh

The national women’s football squad also moved to HCM City on September 20 to prepare for the Southeast Asian Championship 2008 (AFF Cup 2008), which will run from October 8-20 at the Thanh Long Sports Centre in HCM City.

Previously, the team had a 10-day training camp in Kunming, China and began practicing at the National Sports Training Centre in Hanoi on September 17.

The AFF Cup 2008 will see eight participating teams: Myanmar, Indonesia, Laos and Malaysia in group A, Australia, Thailand, Philippines and Singapore in group B.
