In this year’s sanshou tourney, 100 artists from 30 teams competed in 18 weight categories for men and women.

Wushu martial artist Nguyen Thi Bich grabbed Vietnam’s only gold in the women’s sanshou (combat) 48kg category at the World Sanshou Cup in China on Sunday.

Vietnam, which sent seven athletes to the tournament, won seven medals - one gold, four silvers and two bronzes.

In this year’s sanshou (Chinese kick boxing) tourney, 100 artists from 30 teams competed in 18 weight categories for men and women.

At the World Sanshou Cup in China in 2006 Bich pocketed a bronze medal in the 52kg class.

HCM City dominate National Weightlifting Championship

HCM City won the National Weightlifting Championship, which concluded on Sunday in the northern province of Thai Nguyen.

National team weightlifters won the most golds, while HCM City led the overall medal table with 13 golds, 10 silvers, and 14 bronzes.

Hanoi came second with nine golds, eight silvers and four bronze medals.

Hai Duong finished third with four golds, two silvers, and five bronze medals. The province’s Southeast Asian Games gold medallist Nguyen Thi Thiet won three gold medals.

The event attracted 105 athletes from 17 teams.

Another record broken at national youth athletics champs

Hanoian Nguyen Van Hung has broken his own triple jump record at the National Young Athletics Championships.

Hung jumped 15m 92. His previous record was 15m 91.

Hanoi topped the medals table with eleven golds, three silvers, and eight bronzes - despite the fact that most of the capital’s top athletes are training in China.

Da Nang came second, followed by Thanh Hoa and Nam Dinh.
